Information for Competitors

The Univest Grand Prix is an international pro road cycling competition for men. The race was amateur for the first eight years and turned pro in 2006. Now in its tenth year, it is one of only thirteen professional UCI (International Cycling Union) races on the United States calendar. The Univest Grand Prix is open to UCI Continental Pro, Continental and invited USA Cycling amateur teams. The Race Direction focuses on bringing together North America's best Mexican, Canadian and US of A racing teams and mixing them them with excited and motivated challengers from Europe. The racing at the Univest Grand Prix is always tactical and brutally hard. In 1998 three riders contested the finish: since then, only 2-man sprints or solo rides have won the race.

Many young riders have won professional contracts with their performances at the Univest. The race will always strive to maintain its position as a gateway to the pros for driven young talent.

The area community is involved through athletes staying with local families and visiting grade schools to speak about their sport.

The race features start to finish live television coverage directed by multi Emmy award winner Kent Gordis.

Coverage will be carried by WFMZ-69 from 10:30 to 3:00pm.

Cycling.tv will carry the final two hours live.

Spectators in Souderton will be treated to Start to Finish live jumbo screen TV coverage.

NBC-10 of Philadelphia will carry a one-hour summary program on September 23rd, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm

The highly successful Univest Grand Prix of Doylestown Criterium will be in its fourth year in 2007 and is open to all competitors from the road race. Substitutions are not allowed for the criterium. Men's teams must ride both races.

Interested team managers should contact Sparta Cycling at jde@spartacycling.com or 917-699-4566.
